SEA SALT

We have thoughtfully selected French grey sea salt from the coast of Brittany for its very high mineral content. This particular sea salt is hand-harvested using time-honored methods – without refining, oven drying or using chemical additives. Mineral-rich ocean water is flooded into ancient Roman clay beds and allowed to evaporate slowly from the sun’s natural heat. This creates intensely powerful salt crystals embedded with over 80 vital trace minerals. Skilled artisans monitor this process and keep the salt beds hydrated – even during the evaporation process – to create a kinetic crystallization effect which intensifies the salt’s nutrients. Because it is cultivated in the water and harvested while still moist, our sea salt retains all of the sea’s mineral content – unlike other sea salts that are bleached and dried, which can remove much of their vital nutrients. Prior to harvesting, the artisans perform a final hand-raking of the salt beds to ionize and harmonize the formed crystals, thereby eliminating clay bed particulate and ensuring the salt’s superlative quality.

Our salt farmers practice a craft passed down from generation to generation. When harvested using traditional methods, natural sea salts retain therapeutic qualities capable of restoring health and balance – even in the case of longstanding chronic afflictions.

ALGAE

Of essential importance to Pursoma is the sustainable harvesting of our algae. We source our Spirulina from France where the algae is hand-harvested and monitored for quality control. Our Laminaria is wild-harvested by fishermen off the coast of Brittany who act in compliance with ordinances of the French Government and the National Syndicate of Marine Algae. Each season, only a portion of the biomass of a kelp forest is harvested. Kelp plants smaller than 60-centimeters (or younger than two years old) are left untouched, to allow for growth, reproduction and regeneration of kelp beds in order to preserve the natural biorhythms of the undersea ecosystem.

Our seaweed contains 15-percent mineral salts, including chlorines, sulphates and iodines. We have carefully selected certain varieties of seaweed for their high levels of iodine – a much higher iodine content than found in Pacific kelp. Our algae and seaweed are also rich in chlorophyll making them superior detoxifying agents. Both ingredients help prevent the absorption of radioactivity from devices such as cell phones, laptops and other environmental stressors.

CLAY

French green clay is the most majestic, effective and widely used mineral clay for the skin. Our green Illite and Montmorillonite clays are sourced from the bucolicHaute-Loire Valley in France. The composition of this unique region creates an ideal environment for clay harvesting. Punctuated by mountains, quarries and dormant volcanoes, this valley region of France imparts curative volcanic ash and ancient mineral rich sediments (deposited during the tertiary period, between 65,000 and 2.6 million years ago), as well as magnesium, calcium, potassium, dolomite, silica, manganese, phosphorous, silicon, copper and selenium. The natural soft green hue of these clays is acquired from decomposed plant matter – the very cycles of life the earth uses to regenerate itself.

Pursoma sources our clays from a single origin that directly manages the complete production cycle, including extraction, laboratory testing, transformation, distribution and research and development. No chemical additives or processes are used at any point, making our clays safe for the earth and safe for your skin.
