The Director of Wholesale for Pursoma is passionate about natural beauty, and wellness solutions to calm the body and clear the mind to function with less stress in todays over digitized world. This role is responsible for being the key liaison for all of the brand’s US Retailers and Web Partners, with focus on growing sales within existing accounts and expanding distribution. She/he builds a strong marketing plan according to our partners’ needs while keeping our brand’s image at heart, through strategic brand programs to increase brand awareness, elevate brand perception, and recruit new customers. She/he proactively looks for new business opportunities for the brand. She/he tracks and analyzes the sales performance and is able to find creative ways of boosting it, while building a long-term wholesale strategy to maximize brand potential. She/he is also responsible for working with support teams to manage logistics and supply chain processes related to wholesale sales.

Job Specifications:

  • Develop and implement an annual operating plan with volume, financial, volume distribution, and strategic goals.
  • Contacts and explores potential partnerships with other brands/retailers, and selects the preferred partners for the business and the brand
  • Accountable for developing and rolling out of go-to-market strategy for all Channels
  • Accountable for driving topline while delivering positive ROI for trade spend at total company and customer level
  • Partner with founder / CEO in process of portfolio innovation and renovation
  • Participates in overall sales strategy and execution for sale of brands / products
  • Analyze consumer trends and channels to identify and maximize local market opportunities
  • Ensure brand pricing and gross profit is aligned to strategy by channel
  • Works on any merchandising initiative in case of an in-store roll out, notably with merchandising agencies
  • Creates compelling promotions within brand equity and group promotional rules to boost performance if needed
  • Monitors budget for each promotional and marketing initiatives and reports on it
  • Builds direct marketing plans to support partners, including creation of account specific marketing calendar
  • Analyze weekly sell-out reports and identify opportunities for growth
  • Adjusts the plan and finds creative ways of boosting the performance when needed
  • Proactively finds new business opportunities for the brand
  • Is on the lookout for any beauty industry distribution and business innovations
  • Secures brand meetings and creates bespoke marketing pitch presentation tailored to the positioning and strategy of each retail partner
  • Leads holiday and line review initiatives with product development team and marketing agency
  • Works hand-in-hand with support teams such as finance and logistics to ensure seamless experience for our clients
  • Ownership of the P&L for accounts

Physical & Travel Requirements

  • Remote position/ initial onboarding in person session at HQ with executive team in Maryland, quarterly visits to pursoma HQ, marketing /PR meetings virtually
  • Potential travel needed to build up relationships with distributors and retailers


  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a CPG customer-facing role
  • Proven knowledge of retailer strategies and objectives
  • Strong knowledge of customer strategy and key levers as well as competitors
  • Deep knowledge of beauty and personal care, specifically for given category
  • Self-starter who thrives inside a start-up environment with the support
  • Experience with Target and Ulta preferable (moved from bottom)
  • Proficient working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, email and specialized business applications software.
  • Strategy development experience
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Superior presentation and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Goal-oriented focused, and assertive individual who needs little direction or supervision
  • Strong analytical/quantitative skills comfortable with business math and an understanding of POS metrics and how to translate to retailers
  • Experience with managing beauty accounts
  • Strong communication and presentation skills and ability to interact and present to top management and external agencies
  • Process-oriented mindset to best manage related logistics, supply chain, and operations procedures
  • Ability to think strategically and create a bigger picture vision while also executing that vision
  • Enthusiastic, collaborative, and energetic.
  • Willingness to travel when needed

  • Delivery of Business Plan sales goals (gross / net)
  • Incremental distribution points on new items
  • Forecasting accuracy
  • Fill Rate / On Time In Full (OTIF)
  • Trade budget spending
  • Promotional ROI
  • Retail execution of new launches (ex;  75% ACV in 90 days)
